Fissures is the name given to the small grooves on the chewing surface of the molars. Bacteria can settle and grow particularly easily in these fissures. The delicate enamel of children’s teeth can then easily be destroyed by tooth decay. We therefore protect it in advance with a durable, impermeable varnish.

SEALING FOR CHILDREN
Fissure sealing is now standard practice in children’s dentistry. It can only be done once the teeth have erupted completely and the enamel has matured. We will tell you during the check-up appointments when the sealing can be done. The teeth are first cleaned particularly thoroughly and then sealed with a plastic varnish. The teeth are usually also fluoridated. This ensures that the teeth are best protected against tooth decay.
FISSURE SEALING FOR ADULTS
Normally adult teeth are no longer sealed as they are resilient enough. However, in special cases or if explicitly desired, we can carry out fissure sealing after childhood.
